The Advantages of a European-Style Kitchen

When we moved into our home, we experienced our first European-style kitchen. With its sleek minimalist cabinetry and highly efficient appliances, I loved the look immediately. After cooking in it for a year, I can honestly say it works brilliantly. The design and layout not only maximize space but also improve our kitchen’s functionality, making it a pleasure to cook in, even during large family gatherings.

Reform Cabinets: Aesthetic and Functionality Combined

Our kitchen is centered around Reform Cabinets, known for their modern, stylish design and high-quality construction. The sleek, minimalist appearance fits perfectly with the European design ethos, blending form and function effortlessly. Reform offers customizable options, allowing our developer to select finishes and colors that match our aesthetic. But these cabinets are not just beautiful—they are built to last. Made from high-quality materials and constructed with precision, they withstand the daily demands of our busy kitchen.

One feature I hadn’t lived with before was push-to-open cabinets. Initially, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about not having handles or knobs, but I quickly fell in love with both the function and the sleek design. The clean, streamlined look adds to the minimalist look, and it’s surprisingly convenient to simply push the cabinet doors to open them. I also love that there are no knobs to bump into or catch my clothes on—a small but significant detail that makes the kitchen more comfortable.

Additionally, we’ve incorporated counter-height upright cabinet spaces for both our blender and KitchenAid mixer. This serves as an easy-access juice bar and baking station, hidden behind cabinet doors. It eliminates the cluttered look of appliances on the countertops, keeping our kitchen organized without sacrificing practicality.

Our lower-level cabinets are designed as large drawers, and they have become an essential feature. These drawers reduce the need for lifting plates and bowls into upper cabinets, making daily use much more ergonomic. Positioned close to the dishwasher, they streamline the unloading process, improving the overall efficiency of the space.

Efficient and Elegant Appliances

We’ve equipped our kitchen with high-performance, space-saving appliances, including a 24” Wolf convection wall oven, a Wolf induction cooktop, a Sub-Zero paneled refrigerator, and a Cove dishwasher. Although they are made by an American company, each appliance complements our kitchen’s European design and increases its efficiency.

The 24” Wolf convection oven, despite its smaller size, is more than sufficient. It heats up quickly and uses less energy than a traditional 30” oven. We’ve successfully navigated two major family holidays with it, including fitting our traditional turkey roaster. While we’ve had to get creative when juggling multiple dishes, the results have been fantastic. Plus, its efficiency makes it ideal for everyday cooking, where we don’t need to heat a large space for smaller meals.

The Wolf induction cooktop heats up quickly and offers precise temperature control, making cooking a breeze. Its flat surface is also incredibly easy to clean—without gas grates or electric coils, it wipes down effortlessly.

Our Sub-Zero refrigerator blends seamlessly into the kitchen design, thanks to the integrated panel. Beyond aesthetics, it’s highly efficient, keeping food fresher for longer, which reduces food waste. The space is thoughtfully organized, and we’ve never had an issue with storage, even after big grocery runs.

Finally, the Cove dishwasher complements the space beautifully while ensuring every dish comes out sparkling clean. It’s incredibly quiet and offers flexible loading options that handle everything from pots and pans to delicate glassware with ease.

We Love Our European-Style Kitchen

In our experience, a European-style kitchen offers a sleek, modern design that doesn’t sacrifice functionality. The smaller, efficient appliances save energy while still delivering the performance needed for both everyday meals and holiday feasts. Reform Cabinets provide the perfect blend of aesthetics and smart storage, including large lower drawers and push-to-open doors that add to the minimalist look while eliminating the need for handles.

We have a kitchen that not only looks great but works hard for our family. With the right design and tools, a European-style kitchen can be both beautiful and highly practical—proving that sometimes, less really is more.
